Credit union offers prevention seminar

KU Credit Union will present an hourlong Fraud and Identity Theft seminar at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the credit union’s branch at 3400 W. Sixth St., Lawrence.

Attendees will learn how to protect themselves from phishing e-mail scams, how to use the Internet safely, and what to look for when conducting financial transactions. Attendees will receive information to take home for further education and prevention.

“The single most effective weapon against fraud and identity theft is an informed, educated citizen,” said Ginger Wehner, KUCU’s assistant vice president for Lawrence. “Working together, we know that fraud and identity theft is preventable.”
