Marc Ridenour will receive an Achievement Award next month from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, recognizing the Lawrence-based remodeler for receiving the highest scores on the organization's national certification tests for two consecutive years.

The tests designate Ridenour as a certified remodeler, indicating his knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in the remodeling trade. The program covers business methods and practices, building codes and construction law, planning and building site layout, and trades skills for remodeling a home or business. Ridenour is president of Natural Breeze Remodeling, Lawrence.

The association will present the award during its national board meeting March 24 in Austin, Texas.

If when you say he "bought" an award you actually mean that he took a certification exam and out of every individual in the country got the highest score on said exam two years in a row... you would be correct.

Don't be jealous that someone accomplished something significant, simply because you are some e-loser with a job at McDonalds.

His accomplishment might be significant, and might not. The fact remains that many "trade" organizations' primary function is as a hype machine, and "awards" are a common tool. I don't expect to see any reporting in the JW business news that would allow us to know whether this award means anything or not since the primary purpose of this section is to deseminate press releases. The only thing anyone can know for certain from this article is that the JW printed yet another press release, but we don't even know the source of this one-- was it from the national association or from Natural Breeze-- or from somebody else?

Enquiring minds want to know.

No, inquiring minds would read the article and see that the person got the highest score on a test, out of everyone who took the test in the nation, two years in a row and realize that is a pretty big accomplishment. Not try to be an idiot and imply without cause that the article is a puff piece with a made up award for a made up certification that you get by taking a made up test. There is one fool in the room, and it is you. Spouting your hyperbole as facts is asinine and it fools no one but yourself.

Did it really take you a whole year and two months to come up with that?
