Wes Gallagher, Associated Press general manager and William Allen White Award recipient for 1967, told an audience here that newsgathering people of the modern era needed to work harder at closing the credibility gap with the public by providing a steady flow of accurate, reliable facts to help people make up their minds on a sound basis. He emphasized that such a fundamental approach would never change because of the constant need for media to be fair, honest and accurate.
