Boy Scout Troop 53 will conduct its 88th annual Chili Feed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at First Christian Church, 10th and Kentucky streets. Scouts, leaders and parents will prepare chili, beef vegetable soup and chili dogs, and parents will make homemade desserts. Chili and soup are available for take-out. The event raises money for the troop’s camping program. Tickets are available at the door or from any scouts or leaders in the troop.

¢All seven boys in Den 4, a second-year Webelos Den from Pack 3462 chartered to Langston Hughes School, earned the Arrow of Light Award. The award is the highest given by the Cub Scout program. Thomas Peterson and Dakota Zinn also earned all 20 activity badges. Six of the boys will be joining Troop 52, and one will join Troop 53. Other Webelos in Den 4 are Diamond Brockway, Vail Moshiri, AJ Ware, Hunter Ross and Garrett Weeks.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3057, chartered to the St. John School PTO, held its monthly pack meeting on Dec. 14 in the St. John School gym. The program included dancing by the Mic-O-Say Dancers. Mic-O-Say is an honorary camping society in the Heart of America Council. Dances included the Deer Dance, Brat Dance, Hoop Dance and Eagle Dance. The scouts and some parents joined in the final dance.

¢Boy Scout Troop 55 has been busy during the past few months. The scouts camped in the Singing Coyote Campsite at Camp Bromelsick on Dec. 9-10. All meals were prepared and cooked in Dutch ovens. The boys challenged the leaders to an Indian game of stick ball in the afternoon. Scouts attending included Jamie Braden, Jacob Christilles, Ludwig Johanning, Ulrich Johanning, Jacob Pfeifer, Jonathan Roberts, JD Williams and Jeremey Woodhead. They were accompanied by adult leaders Joe Wilson, Jim Peterson, John Pfeifer and Stephen Roberts.

On Dec. 30, the troop attended a movie night at the Troop Cabin with 18 scouts and venture scouts attending. On Jan. 20, the troop attended a survival camp at Bromelsick. They worked on making shelters and went on a hike around the camp. After supper they spent the evening in their survival shelters. Scouts attending were Tyler Williams, Ian Gent, Johnathon Roberts, Griffin Kimmel, Chris Marr, Kiefer Gibler, Mitch McCune, Jacob Pfeifer and Jacob Christilles. They were accompanied by adult leaders Bob Gent, Stephen Roberts and John Pfeifer.

On Jan. 27, more than 50 people accompanied Troop 55 for the Annual Late Night at Snow Creek in Weston, Mo. Scouts attending included Alan O’Neal, Andrew Carttar, Bryce Baringer, Colin O’Neal, David Lawrence, Drew Braden, Ian Gent, Isaac Remboldt, Jacob Pfeifer, Jamie Braden, JD Williams, Jeremy Woodhead, Johnathon Roberts, Kevin Cottrell, Kjell Mullenix, Mitch McCune, Newt Heston, Patrick Carttar, Steve Norris, Wyatt Patterson, Alex Houston, Austin Johanning, Ben Maloun, Bryce Lignell, Connor Remboldt, Gage Buffington, John Bennett, Michael Edman and Monte Scott Turner. They were accompanied by adult leaders and family members Beth Maloun, Bob Gent, Bruce Johanning, Cammie Braden, Charles Remboldt, Colleen Lignell, Deb Vannicola, Don Edman, Eleanor Buffington, Grady Walker, Heather Turner, Mike Maloun, Monicka Remboldt, Nicolette Bennett, Paul Patterson, Peter Houston, Scott Braden, Scott O’Neal, Scott Woodhead, Steve Roberts, Amber Remboldt and Lindsay Vannicola.
