Haskell men complete sweep, 71-56

Haskell Indian Nations University won for the fifth time in eight games, defeating Central Christian, 71-56, in men’s college basketball Friday night at Coffin Complex.

The Indians broke open a close game late.

“They were tough,” Haskell coach Jamie Morrison said. “Every time they cut the lead down, we were still able to maintain the lead. It was a battle.”

Joe Sanders led five Haskell players in double figures with 13 points. Ben Carrywater had 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals; Wacy Weeks had 11 points and 10 rebounds; Kirk Brown had 11 points; and Jamison King collected 10 points and five assists.

The game was a Coaches Vs. Cancer contest. Both coaches wore sneakers, and money was raised for the American Cancer Society.

Haskell (6-20) will entertain Newman at 5 p.m. today.
