Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 9, 1907: “Not many people know that every railroad entry into Lawrence has in its employ an expert whose duty it is to inspect the watches of the employees to keep things running as they should. If a watch is more than 30 seconds off it is regulated, cleaned or repaired as the case may demand. Neglect to attend to this often gets trainmen in trouble. : Seats are being sold for the presentation of the Elks Minstrel Show at the Bowersock Opera House.”
