Bus exhaust

To the editor:

Every day, several times a day, buses haul down our street and many other streets in Lawrence leaving behind large amounts of stinking black smoke. I know that being stuck behind one of these buses on a bike or while walking when one drives by leaves a person or any living thing with burning eyes, nose and throat and a cough. It is polluting the air and endangering everyone’s health. Public transportation is a wonderful thing that I wish to stick around, but I also think we should look into getting those buses updated in any way that may reduce the amounts of toxicity they release into our air.
