Development meetings may start in March

Public meetings to explain new rural development and subdivision regulations will begin sometime next month if Douglas County commissioners have their way.

In addition to meetings explaining the regulations to property owners, commissioners want information meetings to be conducted for bankers and representatives of real estate and title companies, they said during their Monday meeting.

Linda Finger, the county’s consultant in developing the regulations over the past two years, is designing plans for the meetings.

Late last year the county and the Lawrence City Commission approved the new regulations, which will guide rural development in conjunction with possible future annexation.

In other business, commissioners approved a final plat for Wakarusa Farm Estates, 1273 E. 1900 Road. The one-lot residential subdivision includes 9 acres and is owned by David C. and Pamela W. Morrison.
