Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 4, 1907: “Zero weather, the most severe of the winter, is all over Kansas now. In Lawrence this morning the reading was 3 degrees below zero : The legislature says it is precisely halfway through its 1907 session but so far no really big bills have been passed in either house. : Lawrence has been going through the blues in recent days because of the cold, the icy conditions and so few opportunities to do business. Relief may be gained by attending the heralded “Royal Chef” production tonight at the opera house. It is a show full of beauty, pretty girls, charming music and in every way is fitted to drive away the blues.”
