Pryor’s big quarter carries SFT girls

? Brooke Pryor scored a game-high 21 points as the Santa Fe Trail High girls basketball team broke open a tight contest with a big second half Friday night in a 55-34 victory against Perry-Lecompton.

“It was two different games,” said Perry-Lecompton coach Mark Armstrong. “The first half we played well, and the third quarter Pryor came out and scored 10 points. Ballgame over.”

Ashleigh Allam led the Kaws with nine points.

Santa Fe Trail (11-3) will play host to Tonganoxie on Tuesday in a battle of Kaw Valley League unbeatens.

Perry-Lecompton (5-11) will return to action Tuesday when it plays host to Bonner Springs.

De Soto – The Wildcats staged a furious second-half rally, but came up short.

Trailing by 13 at halftime, De Soto cut the deficit to three late in the second half, but that was as close as it came.

“We showed quite a bit of character in coming back,” De Soto coach Dwight Spencer said. “We just came up a little short.”

Jackie Goleman scored 16 points for the Wildcats (5-8), who will travel to Prairie View on Tuesday.

Perry – Ryan Hastert scored 12 points, and Joel Gantz scored 11 to pace lead the Kaws (10-6) past the Chargers (0-14).

Four players scored in double figures for Perry-Lecompton, which outscored Santa Fe Trail, 33-17, in the second half.

Perry-Lecompton will play host to Bonner Springs on Tuesday.

Richmond – Chase Moore scored 17 points, and Victor Ojeleye had 16 to lift the Cyclones.

Ottawa outscored Central Heights, 17-4, in the third quarter to take a 20-point lead and put the game away.

Ottawa improved to 11-2 and 6-0 in the Frontier League. The Cyclones will travel to Eudora on Tuesday.
