Missouri dirt

To the editor:

It continues to appear to me that the lost revenues to “our town” are of no concern to Kansas University. These revenues are the income that all our local businesses need to survive. The tax revenue that funds public services serving all areas within the city limits comes from these revenues as well. When Hoch Auditorium was struck by lightning, I do not recall any fire department from Jackson County, Mo., responding to the first alarm.

I can only hope that during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year, the game will be televised. That way all, including families who cannot afford to attend the Kansas vs. Missouri football game at Arrowhead Stadium, located in Kansas City, Mo., are able to watch and support the “home” team. I also hope local businesses are able to provide TVs and/or radios so that their employees can remain busy by listening and/or watching the “home team.” But past experience tells me that all families and businesses should have fresh batteries in their radios.

I can almost be assured that one of my most respected acquaintances, coach Don Fambrough, would agree with me when I say, you can call it a neutral site, but Missouri dirt is Missouri dirt.
