Imprisoned rights activist hospitalized
Iran ? The head of an Iranian human rights group jailed on security charges was sent to a local hospital after collapsing in a prison shower, said his attorney on Thursday.
Emadeddin Baghi passed out while taking a shower in prison and initially no one knew to which hospital he had been sent, his attorney, Saleh Nikbakhat, told The Associated Press.
According to his attorney, who visited him in the hospital Thursday, Baghi is feeling better and will be back in prison by today.
Baghi, 45, was arrested in October on charges of violating national security. Authorities said that due to his ongoing activities, he had to serve the remaining year of an earlier prison sentence that had originally been suspended.
In 2003, Baghi was sentenced to three years in prison on similar charges of threatening national security, but he only served two years of the term.
