Roger Hill center gets new manager

Tracie M. Massey has joined the staff of the United Way of Douglas County as manager for the Roger Hill Volunteer Center.

Massey is responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist with more than 140 area nonprofit organizations, and for providing volunteer referrals and community volunteer recognition. Programs organized by the center include Kids Voting, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the annual Spring Day of Caring.

Massey also will be involved with collaborative efforts to improve emergency preparedness in the community with volunteer training programs.

She received a bachelor’s degree in business from Emporia State University, and a master’s degree in higher-education administration from Kansas University.

Massey has spent 10 years counseling and advising students, supervising and training paraprofessionals, and coordinating events.

She takes over for Margaret Perkins-McGuinness, who now works at the Spencer Museum of Art at KU.
