Philadelphia ? Eagles coach Andy Reid and his wife vowed to stand by their sons in their struggles with drug and legal problems, and he told a magazine that he wants to remain with the team “as long as I can do my job to the best of my ability.”

Reid said the couple decided to give the exclusive interview to Philadelphia Magazine about their family’s situation in hopes of helping others.

“The tremendous level of support and interest that was shown by many people – even by those without any interest in our football team was stunning,” Reid said. “Tammy and I are very humbled and thankful for that.”

The magazine said it would post excerpts from the interview on its Web site Friday.

Both Garrett and Britt Reid have battled drug addiction and been sentenced to jail terms stemming from Britt’s road-rage case and Garrett’s heroin-fueled, high-speed crash.
