Regents OK affiliation agreement

Physicians group next to make determination

With “peace and goodwill,” the Kansas Board of Regents today gave their assent to the proposed affiliation agreement among Kansas University Medical Center, KU Hospital and KU Physicians Inc.

After a discussion that stretched more than an hour, the regents unanimously approved the agreement that has been at least 18 months in the making. The agreement now moves to the physicians group, which will have a board meeting at 5 p.m. today to determine its support.

If the physicians approve, the agreement goes into effect once leaders of all three groups sign it.
