City commissioners unanimously approved new regulations that will require businesses such as hotels and apartment complexes that have a public pool to pay for an annual license.

The license will be administered through the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and is expected to cost $120 for the first pool and $60 for additional pools or spas. The department has conducted pool inspections for years but has never charged a fee.
