Area Roundup: Baldwin boys surge past Heights

BHS girls cruise to 52-34 victory

Baldwin 34, Central Heights 33

Richmond – Baldwin overcame a five-point deficit in the final minute and edged Central Heights, 34-33, in high school boys basketball on Tuesday.

Dustin Schiller made a layup to put Baldwin up by two points, and Drew Berg hit two free throws to seal the victory. Berg led Baldwin with 15 points.

Baldwin (3-1) will entertain Wellsville on Friday.

Marysville 68, Santa Fe Trail 60

Carbondale – Santa Fe Trail’s boys basketball team dropped its first home game of the season.

Santa Fe Trail outscored Marysville, 34-30, in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to erase a 12-point halftime deficit.

Santa Fe Trail (0-4) will play Thursday at Ottawa.

Girls

Baldwin 52, Central Heights 34

Richmond – Tracie Weege scored 15 points, and Callie Craig added 11 points to lead Baldwin.

The Bulldogs (2-3) will entertain Wellsville on Friday.

Marysville 50, Santa Fe Trail 34

Carbondale – Marysville used an 18-point second quarter to put away Santa Fe Trail.

Kylee Nilges led SFT with nine points.

Kelsi Wiscombe and Amanda Bixel each chipped in eight.

SFT (1-3) will travel to Ottawa on Thursday.

Tonganoxie 54, De Soto 19

Tonganoxie – Elizabeth Baska scored 14 points, and Shannon Carlin scored 12 as Tonganoxie rolled past De Soto.

Tonganoxie improved to 5-2.
