From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 18, 1907: “William Howard Taft seems due to get opposition from labor unions in his bid for the presidency due to previous rulings against unions when he was a judge. : Most of Kansas went to sleep last night under a blanket of snow, according to the Topeka weather bureau. : Several say they plan to sue the Missouri Pacific Railroad for halting seven passenger routes without getting formal approval from the state. : We can be sure our Navy in the Pacific is safe since our Battleship Kansas is accompanying the group. : Somehow, nobody in Kansas seems to be greatly worried that the constitutionality of Kansas prohibition is on trial in the U.S. Supreme Court. We need to be ready to pass a new prohibitory law.”
