A&M hands Auburn first loss of season

? Takia Starks scored 17 points, and No. 12 Texas A&M held off a second-half comeback by No. 14 Auburn to hand the Tigers their first loss, 62-60 Saturday night.

The Aggies never lost a 39-28 halftime lead despite a pair of 7-0 runs by Auburn, the latter getting the Tigers within 57-56 on a basket by Sherell Hobbs with 3:17 remaining.

DeWanna Bonner missed a jumper that would have put Auburn ahead for the first time since the 11:09 mark of the first half, and Texas A&M’s A’Quonesia Franklin hit a three-pointer for a 60-56 lead with 1:35 remaining.

Danielle Gant scored 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting and led Texas A&M with nine rebounds.
