Lawrence woman guilty in shooting

A Franklin County jury earlier this week found a Lawrence woman guilty for her role in the shooting of a man in Ottawa a year ago.

Kay Galliard-Taylor, 49, was convicted Monday of attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder following a weeklong trial. She will be sentenced Jan. 7.

Galliard-Taylor was one of four people charged in the shooting of Michael Miller. Miller, who survived the shooting, was to testify the next day in a Douglas County aggravated battery case.

In the Douglas County case, Louis Galloway was convicted of breaking into Miller’s Lawrence home and attacking him. Galloway, who was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison, was never charged in the Ottawa shooting.

In July, Lee Roy House, 44, Lawrence, was sentenced to 36 months in prison in the Miller shooting case. Lisa Winter, 38, Lawrence, was sentenced in August to 66 months in prison after pleading no contest to attempted second-degree murder. A trial is still pending for a fourth suspect, Jeffrey Campbell.
