From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 12, 1907: “The annual meeting of the Sons and Daughters of New England will be at the Fairfax, 708 Mass., on Dec. 20. Emphasis will be on the local heritage and talks on the history and customs of New England. All persons born in New England or whose father or mother, grandfather or grandmother was born there are eligible for membership. Wives and husbands of such are also invited. : The Young Democrats at the university are locked in a battle over which of its groups should be in charge. Each group has its officers and the conflict could continue quite a while.”
