From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 11, 1907: “U.S. government engineers commenced yesterday the survey of the northern and last of three proposed routes for the military road expected to connect Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley. Weather was so unfavorable that the effort had to be postponed since surveyors could not do their work properly. : Prof. W.E. Higgins has returned from a trip to law schools of Northwestern, Michigan and Missouri universities. He went to observe practice court work and returned saying the Kansas University law school has a superior system with its three years of practice work as opposed to one year at other schools.”
