Houston ? A.J. Abrams, D.J. Augustin and Damion James scored 18 points each to help Texas improve to 9-0 for first time since the 1981-82 season with an 80-54 victory over Rice.

Their 26-point margin of victory marks the eighth time in the first nine games that they’ve won by at least 15 points.

The Longhorns led by seven before scoring 13 straight points, capped by a reverse layup by Augustin midway through the first half to push the lead to 30-10. Texas led 47-29 at halftime.

The Owls (2-6) were led by Rodney Foster, who had 13 points, and Patrick Britton added 11.

No. 16 Texas A&M 109, Texas State 73

College Station, Texas – DeAndre Jordan and Donald Sloan scored 18 points each, and Texas A&M bounced back from its first loss with an easy victory over Texas State.

Joseph Jones had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Josh Carter added 12 points and five boards for the Aggies (8-1), who’ve won 40 consecutive nonconference home games and 29 of their last 30 home games overall.

The Bobcats (5-3) stayed close for eight minutes, but A&M turned it into a blowout by halftime, getting a feel-good win after a 78-67 loss to Arizona last Sunday.

Wyoming 73, Colorado 64

Laramie, Wyo. – Brad Jones scored 19 points, and Ryan Dermody added 18 to help lift Wyoming.

The Buffaloes (5-4) clawed their way back in the game after being down by 20 points at halftime.

Jones finished 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. Brandon Ewing scored 12 points and dished out a game-high six assists for the Cowboys.

Marcus Hall led Colorado with 17 points. Levi Knutson added 11 points, and Richard Roby scored 10.

Missouri 73, Purdue 63

Columbia, Mo. – Leo Lyons had 13 points and 10 rebounds, leading a second-half charge after Missouri (6-3) squandered an 11-point lead and helping the Tigers break away from young Purdue.

The Tigers are 5-0 at home this season, winning the first four against lesser competition by an average of 27 points.

Iowa State 56, Iowa 47

Ames, Iowa – After getting blown out by Drake on Wednesday, Iowa State coach Greg McDermott told the Cyclones they had a choice to make.

They could either feel sorry for themselves, or they could get back to work.

Iowa State chose the latter, and in doing so the Cyclones gave McDermott his first victory against an in-state opponent.

Center Jiri Hubalek scored a season-high 15 points, Rahshon Clark added 14, and Iowa State beat rival Iowa, snapping a five-game losing streak against Northern Iowa, Drake and Iowa.

Iowa State (4-4) bounced back from a 35-point drubbing to Drake with an inspired defensive effort, holding the Hawkeyes (6-5) below 50 points for just the second time this season.

Stephen F. Austin 66, Oklahoma 62

Norman, Okla. – Josh Alexander provided the clutch shooting as Stephen F. Austin recorded a rare victory over a Big 12 Conference opponent.

Alexander matched his season high with 19 points as the Lumberjacks upset Oklahoma, their first victory over a Big 12 opponent since 2003, when the Lumberjacks won at Baylor.

This season, Stephen F. Austin (7-1) has won five straight games – including three straight on the road – and has tied its best start to a season since the 1981-82 campaign.

Oklahoma State 78, East Tennessee State 65

Stillwater, Okla. – Freshman James Anderson made a career-high six 3-pointers and scored 26 points as Oklahoma State defeated East Tennessee State.

Oklahoma State (5-3) rallied from a 63-59 deficit during the final eight minutes for the victory against the Buccaneers, who were on the verge of pulling off the upset for what would have been their first-ever victory over a Big 12 Conference opponent in nine games.

ETSU (4-4) is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Oklahoma State now is 4-1 against teams from that league.
