The Lawrence Warm Hearts drive in only two days had raised $2,800 toward its goal of $25,000 to help the needy and elderly get heating during the winter period.

Continuing a tradition of deep interest in the university he once led, former Chancellor Franklin D. Murphy created still another endowed professorship at Kansas University. Murphy, KU chancellor from 1951-60, established the Ahmanson-Murphy Chair in History. Murphy left here for the UCLA chancellorship and later headed the giant Times Mirror Corp. in the publishing field.
