Texas A&M topples FSU

? Takia Starks scored 12 of her 28 points in the game’s first five minutes, and No. 12 Texas A&M defeated Florida State, 81-67, on Thursday night.

Danielle Gant had 25 points for the Aggies (7-1), who won their fourth straight.

Starks was 12-of-15 from the field, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, while Gant was 10-of-16. A’Quonesia Franklin added 12 points, all on 3-pointers. Starks and Gant combined to give Texas A&M a 17-6 lead with 15:04 left in the first half.

Starks scored 19 of her 28 points in the first half and Gant had 17 as the Aggies took a 50-38 lead.

Shante Williams led Florida State (6-3) with 18 points, while Britany Miller added 14 points and five blocked shots and Tanae Davis-Cain had 13 points.

Texas A&M scored 34 points off 24 Florida State turnovers. The Aggies outscored Florida State 17-8 on second-chance baskets.
