From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 6, 1907: “The annexation of Haskell Institute to Lawrence adds at least a thousand to the population of the city. Counting the students of the university and Haskell, Lawrence now has a population close to 16,000. : Another day has gone by and most of us have lost another day to shop for Christmas presents.”
