Drink and think

There are almost as many books about wines, spirits, brews and other beverages as there are bottles. Here are a few recommendations from the 2007 vintage:

¢ “The Complete Bordeaux” by Stephen Brook (Mitchell Beazley, $60). Going chateau-by-chateau through the wine world’s most revered terrain.

¢ “Good Spirits,” by A.J. Rathbun (Harvard Common Press, $29.95). Good, accessible cocktail recipes, delivered with a chaser of humor and history.

¢ “Questions of Taste,” edited by Barry Smith (Oxford, $27.95). Subtitled “the philosophy of wine,” these essays addresses the experience, the language, taste, art, more.
