GOESSEL ? Single-digit scoring in three quarters doomed Veritas Christian’s boys basketball team to a 64-34 loss Tuesday to Burrton in the Goessel Bluebird Classic Tournament.

Michael Kay led Veritas (1-1) with 11 points, and Taylor Zook added 10.

Veritas will play again in the tournament on Friday.

Burrton Girls 54, Veritas Christian 42

Goessel – Veritas Christian followed a 22-point first quarter with a two-point second quarter and fell to Burrton in the Bluebird Classic.

Veritas led 22-16 after one quarter but trailed 27-24 at halftime.

Kristie Tiegreen led Veritas with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

Veritas (1-1) will play the host school, Goessel, at 6 p.m. Friday.
