Old Home Town – 40 years ago

Numerous vehicle accidents of a minor nature occurred as a winter storm roared in and produced a treacherous mixture of snow, sleet and ice. There were no deaths or injuries in the region, however.

Builders here continued the blistering pace they had set the first 10 months of the year by taking out $650,000 more in building permits in November. The 1967 permit total stood at $11.5 million, and building inspector Ken Jorgensen said $12 million was well within reach. Already surpassed was the previous city record of $9.5 million for permits in 1965.
