Area Hoops Roundup: Ottawa rallies from halftime deficit

? The Cylones (1-0) overcame a halftime deficit to win their season opener, 53-51 over St. James, behind 20 points by Jacob Sipple.

Ottawa will travel to the Goodland Tournament next week.

Perry-Lecompton 39, K.C. Ward 36, OT

Perry – Joel Gantz and Andy Bowman scored in double figures for the Kaws, who eked out a victory in their season opener.

They will travel to Jefferson County West on Tuesday.

Basehor-Linwood 67, Tonganoxie 43

Basehor – Tonganoxie couldn’t overcome a 26-point halftime deficit in its season opener. Shannon Carlin led the Chieftains with 13 points, and Roni Grizzle added 10 points.

Tonganoxie (0-1) will play Topeka Highland Park Monday at Paola.

K.C. Ward 57, Perry-Lecompton 27

Perry – Perry-Lecompton opened its season with a 30-point loss to Kansas City Wad. Katie Davis scoerd 10 points to lead the Kaws.

The Kaws (0-1) will play Tuesday at Jefferson West.

Santa Fe Trail 46, Leavenworth Immaculata 39

Leavenworth – Kelsi Whiscomb’s 19 points powered Santa Fe Trail to a season-opening victory.

Kate Badger added 12 for Santa Fe Trail, which will travel to Wamego next Friday.
