Kansas Soccer Academy wraps up weekend play

The U12 KSA Gunners girls team was defeated by Division 1, first place KC Fusion 3-1 on Sunday at Heritage Soccer Park. Gunner Anna Kate Kleibohmer scored off of an indirect kick restart. KSA Gunners record is now 0- 2- 0. KSA Gunners have players from Lawrence and Topeka.

The U13 KSA Enforcers girls team played the KC United Attack to a 0-0 draw at the Polo Grounds in Southern Kansas City. Coach Pat Watkins was pleased with the aggressive team defense and developing attacks. The Enforcers are adapting to a larger field and going from 8 v. 8 to the more traditional 11 v. 11 players. Watkins noted the play of Molly Ryan, Madeline Caywood and Katie Dixon in controlling midfield play. KSA Enforcers are now 0-1-1 in Division 2. KSA Enforcers have players from Lawrence, Eudora and Tonganoxie.

The U17 KSA Orange girls team dominated NEU Stars in a 2-0 game on Saturday at Heritage Soccer Park in Olathe. Apryl Hedges and Hilary Yoder scored second-half goals to secure the win. The Orange team was able to control play with effective offensive passing and aggressive defense. KSA Orange is now 1-0-0 in High School Division 3. KSA Orange has players from Lawrence and Tonganoxie high schools and junior highs.

The U19 KSA Blue girls team surprised highly ranked KCFC Alliance Pumas by playing them to a scoreless draw. KSA Blue is the first Lawrence based team to not lose to a KCFC Alliance club team. Team Blue played with 11 players on a hot afternoon against a KCFC team with six reserves. Blue even played short a player for 12 minutes when one player was overcome by heat. Although KCFC was often the more aggressive team, Blue maintained an attack throughout the game working on several excellent scoring opportunities in the second half. Blue was successful in blunting the refreshed KCFC offensive rush at the end of the game. The KSA Blue record is now 0-0-1 in High School Division 2.
