The Pilot Club of Lawrence met Aug. 13 at Stone Creek. A report was given about the Pilot International Convention, which was attended by Vernis Flottman and Marsha Fowler. It also was reported that the club donated $500 to ECKAN for its school supplies program.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a Mitchell movement directed by Chris Lane on Aug. 15. The North-South players were led by Wanda Durbin and Julia Brooks, followed by Charlie Vaughn and V’Anne Desch at second in A and first in B. Betty Collier and Klee Zaricky placed third in A and second in B, with Bobby Patton and Adelaide Nyquist at first in C. Phyllis Brownlee and Virginia Eddy were second in C.

The East-West players were led by Yvonne Hedges and Sally Taylor at first in A and B, followed by Virginia Seaver and Shirley Reese at second in A. Paul Heitzman and David Piro were third in A, with Mona Bell and Chris Lane at second in B. Ajit Sampat and Shari Krentzel placed first in C.

The Thursday Morning Bridge Club played a Howell movement directed by Lester Dalton on Aug. 9. Charlie Vaughn and Ajit Sampat placed first, followed by Julia Brooks and Pat Lechtenberg. Manoj Kummini and Lester Dalton were third, with Ann Tams and Bobbie Figgins placing fourth.

On Aug. 16, the club played a Howell movement directed by Chris Lane. Virginia Seaver and Chris Lane placed first, followed by Barbara Figgins and Ann Tams at second. Yvonne Hedges and Ajit Sampat placed third, with Pat Lechtenberg and Julia Brooks in fourth place.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver on Aug. 17. The North-South players were led by Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges at first in A and B, with Harry Shaffer and Lynn Hui at second in A. Lester Dalton and Nita Scales were third in A and second in B, with Betty Collier and Lois Clark at first in C.

The East-West players were led by David Piro and Paul Heitzman, followed by Eldon Herd and Shari Krentzel at second in A and first in B. Grant Sutton and Bobby Patton were third in A, second in B and first in C, with Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks at second in C.

The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver on Aug. 13. North-South players were led by Jerry Sloan and Peter Petillo, followed by Harry Shaffer and Lois Clark. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee placed third in A and first in B and C. Jeffrey Nash and Lois Clark were fourth in A, with Charles Hedges and Yvonne Hedges at second in B.

The East-West players were led by Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman, followed by David Piro and Grant Sutton. Eldon Herd and Mary Fenlon placed third in A, with Sally Taylor and Shirley Reese placing fourth in A and first in B. Barbara Merriam and Dorothy Netson were second in B and first in C, with Lynn Hui and Terry Tolar at second in C.

On Aug. 20, the club’s game was directed by Virginia Seaver. The North-South players were led by Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer, with Chris Lane and Lois Jones in second. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough placed third, followed by Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks at fourth in A, first in B and first in C. Clyde Romer and Steven Phelps were second in B.

The East-West players were led by Jeff Nash and Jim Stewart at first in A and B, with Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton at second in A and B and first in C. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges were third in A and B, with Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman at fourth in A. Jeremy Martin and Craig Huneke were second in C.
