With the help of the Lawrence Virtual School, enrollment in the Lawrence School District appears to be up again this year.
Preliminary enrollment numbers are 10,539 as of this week. Last year's audited enrollment was about 10,300.
There are 583 students enrolled in the Virtual School, up from a preliminary total last year of 427. About half of the schools in Lawrence showed increases.
An official headcount will be taken Sept. 20; the number counted that day will be used to determine the amount of school funding the Lawrence district receives from the state.
