Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 22, 1907: “The strikes that have tied up most of the telegraph service to the nation still are of a serious nature and many vital communications are being prevented. : The annual Harvest Home Picnic will be held at Sigel Grove tomorrow and it shapes up as one of the biggest local events of the year. : They are still shipping out some of the outstanding Berkshire hogs bought at the gigantic Sutton sale here last week. : A man who claims to be William Quantrill, who is known to be dead, says he will prove who he is. Quantrill was a known liar and apparently his imitator learned the ruse from him.”
