Electrical malfunction shortens school day

? Students at Baldwin Elementary School Intermediate Center will return to school today after an electrical malfunction caused an evacuation Tuesday.

Two breakers in the electrical system malfunctioned about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, causing a power outage and odor of smoke.

Firefighters, police and ambulance personnel quickly responded to the scene. There was no fire and no injuries.

The roughly 250 students and staff were transported to the district office while crews worked on fixing the system. At 2:45 p.m., the students, in grades three through five, were bused back to school, where parents picked them up.
