Fishing report

CLINTON Lake (updated 8-17) – Water 85 degrees and 1.97 feet above normal pool. Discharge 21 cfs. White bass fair using minnows in the outlet. Wiper fair on minnows in the outlet. Crappie fair on minnows or jigs around trees about 6-12 feet. Channel catfish good using stinkbait, cut bait, liver or worms over baited areas. Outlet area producing some catfish on minnows and nightcrawlers on bottom and under bobber. Note: Fish feeders should be working.

PERRY RESERVOIR (updated 8-16) – Channel catfish good in normal summer pattern, drifting shad. Feeders are in and limits off of the hog trough. Sauger slow, shallow-feeding on shad, cranks or twisters along the dam. White bass fair to good. Try night fishing. Shad are just right while working rocky points, rip-rap, twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie slow. Fish have scattered. Try tube jibs or minows in 8-12 feet. Some blue cats being caught in hog trough.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 8-16) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Currently over 135 acres in basin. Eighty fish attractors were installed last week.

LEAVENWORTH STATE FISHING LAKE (updated 8-16) – Bluegill faiar using worms under bobber around shoreline cover. Largemouth bass fair using jigs. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers, stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Note: Aerator is down. Feeders are working.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 8-16) – Channel catfish fair on stinkbait, livers and nightcawlers. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 8-16) – Water 90 degrees. Channel catfish good. Best bet is in the morning, late afternoon or at night. Most anglers having luck using dip baits, cut bait, stinkbait and worms. Most fish being caught in south end of lake in shallows.
