The University Bridge Club announces results for its Aug. 11 game. Hosts were Bebe Huxtable, Ruth Harwood, Willie Stoltenberg and Donna Gatts. Blue winners were Karmie Galle, first; Leonard Fleske, second; Harold Riehm, third; Ray Ikenberry, fourth; and Tom Waller, fifth. Pink winners were Virginia Williams, first; Cathy Waller, second; Mary Fleske, third; Wanda Kring, fourth; and Edna Galle, fifth.

The Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Aug. 9 at the home of Janet Lukehart. Each member was given a blue and white checked “Dorothy” dress made by club member Gail Brewster for our official club doll dress. Janet Lukehart gave the lesson on Lenci felt dolls and the history of the Lenci dolls.

The club plans to meet Sept. 18 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. The meeting will be open to anyone interested in doll collecting. Debbie Tracy, of Leawood, will present a lesson on dolls from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a Mitchell movement directed by Chris Lane on Aug. 8. In North-South, Julia Brooks and Chris Lane tied for first with Adelaide Nyquist and Ed Howard. Pat Musick and Ann Thompson placed third in A and first in B and C. Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel placed second in B and C.

The East-West pairs were led by Lois Clark and Catherine Blumenfeld at first in A and B, with Sally Taylor and Eldon Herd at second in A. Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier were third in A, with Virginia Seaver and Madelyn Jenks in fourth place.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver on Aug. 10. The North-South pairs were led by Harry Shaffer and Lois Clark, with Virginia Seaver and Sally Taylor in second place. Ed Howard and John Fittel placed third in A, followed by Robert Anderson and Betty Spalsbury coming in at first in B and C.

The East-West players were led by Grant Sutton and Jeane Landry at first in A, followed by Catherine Blumenfeld and Lynn Hui at second in A and first in B and C. David Piro and Paul Heitzman placed third in A, with Madelyn Jenks and Debbi Bettinger placing second in B.
