Raymore teen killed in head-on collision
A 17-year-old from Raymore, Mo., died after a fiery head-on collision Tuesday afternoon near the junction of Kansas Highway 10 and Kansas Highway 7 in Lenexa.
A 1996 Mercury vehicle, driven by 16-year-old Taylor Ann Poslosky, Overland Park, for an unknown reason swerved from the eastbound lane of K-10 and crossed through the grass median at 1:40 p.m., according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
The vehicle then struck a 1998 Ford sport-utility vehicle, driven by Derek R. Risner, in a westbound lane. Troopers had reported to the media that a bystander tried to rescue Risner from the burning vehicle, but he died.
The accident report said it was unknown if Risner wore a seat belt. Poslosky wore one, and she was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with disabling injuries. A nursing supervisor said Tuesday night she was in serious condition.
K-10 was closed temporarily in the area Tuesday after the wreck.
