Colonel to accept post at Leavenworth

? A new deputy commander assumes his duties Friday at Fort Leavenworth’s Combined Arms CenterTraining.

Col. Robert B. Abrams will accept the post in a “change of responsibility” ceremony at 3 p.m. in the Frontier Conference Center. Abrams takes over from Brig. Gen. Joe Ramirez Jr.

Abrams comes to Fort Leavenworth from Germany, where he was the executive officer to the commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and the 7th Army. Ramirez leaves to be assistant division commander for maneuver with the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea.

Abrams is the son of the late Gen. Creighton Abrams, for whom Abrams Loop in front of the new Lewis and Clark Center, is named. Pending U.S. Senate confirmation, Abrams will be promoted to brigadier general.

Some of the CAC-T’s tasks are to provide battle command training, develop virtual combat simulations and provide air-ground operations training.
