Fishing report

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 7-25) – Water 85 degrees and clear to 36 inches. Bluegill good using worms under bobber from shore. Channel catfish good, mostly in morning and late afternoon using dip baits, stinkbait and worms. Most being caught in south end of lake in shallows. Largemouth bass good, mostly in morning or late afternoon. Most being caught near shoreline cover on spinnerbaits and topwater buzzbaits.

CLINTON Lake (updated 8-9) – Water 85 degrees and 2.18 feet above normal pool. Discharge 21 cfs. White bass fair using minnows in the outlet. Wiper fair using minnows in the outlet. Channel catfish fair on stink bait, cut bait, liver or worms over baited areas. Outlet area is producing fish on minnows and nightcrawlers on bottom and under bobber. Crappie fair. Some are being taken over brushpiles and in standing timber 5-15 feet using minnows and jigs.

PERRY RESERVOIR (updated 7-26) – Channel catfish good. Fish are in a normal summer pattern, drifting shad, feeders are in and limits off of the hog trough. Sauger fair shallow feeding on shad, cranks or twisters along the dam. White bass fair/good. A little night fishing is in order; shad are just right. Work those rocky points and rip-rap with twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie slow. Fish have scattered; try tube jigs or minnows in eight to 12 feet of water; tube jigs.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 8-9) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Currently over 135 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE FISHING LAKE (updated 8-9) – Blue gill fair using worms under bobber around shoreline cover. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers, stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Note: Aerator is down. Feeders are working

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 8-9) – Largemouth bass good using plastic jigs. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, livers, and nightcrawlers. Bluegill fair on worms under bobber.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 8-9) – Water 90 degrees. Bluegill good using worms under bobber from shore. Channel catfish good. Best bite is in the morning or late afternoon. Most anglers are having luck using dip baits, stinkbait and worms. Most being caught in south end of lake in shallows. Largemouth bass good in the morning or late afternoon. Most are being caught near shoreline cover on spinnerbaits and top water-buzzbaits.
