Lawrence attorney named to crime board

Lawrence attorney Edward Collister Jr. has been appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to serve a four-year term on the Kansas Criminal Code Recodification Commission.

The commission makes recommendations on proposed modifications, amendments and additions to state criminal code. Part of this involves reviewing sentencing policies for Kansas and other states.

Collister is a partner in the law firm of Collister & Kampschroeder, which was established in 1972.

He graduated from Kansas University Law School in 1964 and spent four years as an assistant attorney general after working several years in private practice.

Collister also is a contract attorney for the Kansas Commission on Judicial Qualifications and is a member of the Judicial Council Criminal Law Advisory Committee.
