Fort Riley ? A 19-year-old specialist from Texas has died in Iraq after his vehicle was hit by grenades, the Army said Monday.

Killed was Braden J. Long, of Sherman, Texas, a member of the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry of Fort Riley’s 1st Infantry Division. Long was a cavalry scout riding in a Humvee in Baghdad when it was attacked Saturday.

Fort Riley officials said Long joined the Army in June 2005 and served with the 1st Infantry Division since January 2006. This was his first deployment to Iraq.

To date, 120 Fort Riley soldiers have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, one Air Force airman who trained as an adviser at Fort Riley was killed in Afghanistan.

More than 6,000 Fort Riley soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan.
