Old Home Town – 25 years ago

So far, Douglas County officials had not noticed much impact from the state’s new tougher drunken driving law that had gone into effect on July 1. Court records showed that there had been 25 drunken driving arrests the previous month, about the same as the total for the same month a year before when a more lenient law was still in effect. However, law enforcement officials said this did not indicate any laxity by their people and warned that firmer vigilance was due to enforce the new state edict.
