The Knights of Columbus Council No. 1372 announces recent award winners.
Knight of the Month winners include Paul Clark, April; Mike Sheridan, May; and Mark Koeppe, June. Family of the Month honorees are the Duane Boor family, April; the Val Romero family, May; and the John Rasmussen family, June.
On July 11, the Knights of Columbus served breakfast to 31 Bike and Build members who were sleeping in classrooms at St. John Catholic School while they were in Lawrence to work on Habitat for Humanity homes.
This is the second consecutive year that the group provided breakfast for the Bike and Build group.
¢The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Chris Lane on July 18.
North-South winners were led by Harry Shaffer and Jeane Landry in A, followed by Julia Brooks and Wanda Durbin. John Reese and Chris Lane were third in A and first in B.
Betty Spalsbury and Margarete Hartman were second in B and first in C, followed by Adelaide Nyquist and Bobby Patton at second in C.
East-West winners were led by Virginia Seaver and Shirley Reese. A second-place tie was between Ed Howard and Ajit Sampat, with Carol Ball and Mona Bell. The latter pair placed first in B and C. Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier were second in B, with Lois Clark and Catherine Blumenfeld at second in C.
On July 25, the club played a stratified Mitchell movement at eight tables directed by Chris Lane.
The North-South pairs were led by Ed Howard and Adelaide Nyquist at first in A, followed by Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges at second in A and first in B.
Eldon Herd and Klee Zaricky placed third in A and second in B.
At East-West, Paul Heitzman and David Piro took first in A, followed by Mona Bell and Chuck Hedges at second in A and first in B and C. Jeane Landry and Lois Clark were third in A, with Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton at second in B and C.
¢The Thursday Morning Bridge Club’s mentor game played a Howell movement directed by Chris Lane on July 19.
First place was a tie between Wanna Roszel and Chris Lane, with Ann Tams and Lester Dalton. Clarice Broz and Ed Howard placed third.
On July 26, the club played a Howell movement directed by Chris Lane. The winners were Jeremy Martin and Brandon Humpert followed by Eleanor Patton and Adelaide Nyquist. Chris Lane and Bebe Huxtable placed third, followed by Virginia Seaver and Nicole Abaid.
¢The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver on July 20.
The North-South winners were led by Klee Zaricky and Virginia Seaver in A, followed by Shirley Reese and Chris Lane at second in A and first in B. Ed Howard and Adelaide Nyquist placed third in A, with Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer in fourth place.
Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges took second in B with Clarice Broz and Marilyn Martin taking first in C.
The East-West winners were led by Craig Huneke and Jeremy Martin at first in A, B and C, followed by Paul Heitzman and David Piro at second in A. Debbi Fair and Linda Schottler placed third in A, with Lois Clark and Jeane Landry at fourth in A. Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton placed second in B and C.
On July 27, the club played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver at 11 tables. The North-South pairs were led by Harry Talley and Don Daugherty at first in A, B and C, followed by Carol Ball and Ann Thompson at second in A, B and C. Virginia Seaver and Jeane Landry were third in A, with Mary Joyce and Phyllis Brownlee at fourth in A and third in B.
The East-West pairs were led by Debbi Fair and Linda Schottler at first in A, with Ed Howard and John Fittell placing second. Paul Heitzman and David Piro were third, with Lois Clark and John Reese at fourth in A and first in B and C. Dianne Childs and Katha Hurt were second in B, with Madelyn and Mona Bell at third in B and second in C.
¢The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Virginia Seaver on July 23. The North-South winners were led by David Piro and Peter Petillo, followed by Lynn Hui and Terry Tolar at second in A and first in B. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough placed third in A. Chris Lane and Shirley Reese tied for fourth-place with Jeffrey Nash and Lois Jones. Robert Anderson and Kathryn Hagen placed first in C.
East-West winners were led by Dorothy Netson and Barbara Merriam at first in A, B and C, followed by Klee Zaricky and Virginia Seaver at second in A. Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson placed third in A, with Ed Howard and James Masilamani at fourth in A.

The North-South pairs were led by Donna Johnson and Peter Petillo, followed by Virginia Hamilton and Jeffrey Nash at second in A and first in B. Judy Hildreth and Lois Jones were third in A, with Lois Clark and Eldon Herd at fourth in A and second in B. Virginia Seaver and Chris Lane placed fifth in A.

Harry Talley and Don Daugherty placed third in A and first in B and C, with Lynn Hui and Jeane Landry at fourth in A. James Masilamani and Amit Chakrabarti were fifth in A, with Dorothy Netson and Barbara Merriam at second in B and C.
¢The University Bridge Club announces results for its July 28 meeting. Hosts were Dale and Wanda Kring. Blue winners were Virginia Williams, first; George Bocquin, second; Ray Ikenberry, third; Richard Quinn, fourth; and Bebe Huxtable, fifth. Pink winners were Myrna Ikenberry, first; Donna Riehm, second; Lois Liebert, third; Ruth Harwood, fourth; and Jo Ann Kready, fifth.
