‘Grease’ slides into Baldwin City

Stephanie Winstone plays Sandy in the Baldwin City Community Theater production of Grease.

For the first time in five years, the Baldwin City Community Theater’s summer performance is back outside this year, in a vacant downtown lot.

The show is “Grease,” the 1971 stage production made famous by a 1978 movie starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. It’s headed back to Broadway, and it recently was the subject of a reality TV show.

In this week’s Pulse Podcast, we look at the Baldwin City performance, as well as what has kept “Grease” so popular through the years. Also, you can hear the cast sing favorite tunes like “Grease,” “We Go Together” and “Hand Jive.”

Remaining performances are at 7:30 p.m. today-Sunday and Wednesday-Aug. 11 at Seventh and High streets in Baldwin City. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
