The Stull Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ann Wood. Judy Wulfkuhle will give a program on “Liquid Assets: The Value of Fluids to Your Health.” Members are reminded to bring food donations for the Lecompton Food Pantry and donations for Pennies for Friendship.

¢ The Douglas County Family and Community Education Council met April 10 in Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Margaret Fuston, president, shared information from the northeast area meeting attended by FCE council officers and program committee members April 5 in Manhattan. Margaret Fuston reported that Douglas County has 121 Walk Kansas teams.

Pauline Nunamaker, historian, reported that she had made notebooks of past FCE events including county, unit, state and national events as well as recipes and pictures. Lola Ford and Aliene Bieber reported that the FCE Council booth on whole grains and the digestive system went very well at the Baldwin community wellness festival.

The council voted to make protectors for seat belts and give them to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, which can pass them along to people who need them. Rachel Purvis reported that the out-of-county tour will be Oct. 24 in Hutchinson and will feature a visit to the salt mines and the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. Darlene Bright reported that the next Red Cross blood drive will be June 21 at First Christian Church. India and Kaw Valley units will furnish the cookies.

FCE district achievement day will be May 10 at the Kansas Historical Society. Members will gather at the extension office at 7:30 a.m.

The next FCE council meeting will be at 9 a.m. June 5 in Deal Six Auditorium, Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.
