Trimble highlights KU track signees

Shawnee Heights senior Iain Trimble signed a letter of intent with Kansas University on Thursday to throw the javelin for the KU men’s track and field team.

Trimble chose Kansas over Oklahoma. Second-year KU throws coach Andy Kokhanovsky, along with KU’s film program, were the main appeals to Trimble. His grandfather, Peter Frevert, taught economics at KU.

Trimble won the javelin at last weekend’s Kansas Relays with a personal-record distance of 214 feet, 9 inches. He was ranked No. 1 in the nation after the throw.

He is also the two-time reigning Kansas Class 5A state champion in the javelin. He placed sixth at the state meet as a freshman.

Kansas also announced the signings of Nickesha Anderson (Missouri Baptist University transfer), Anna Barber (Jenks, Okla.), Clay Schneider (Topeka Seaman) and Kendra Bradley (Leavenworth).

Schneider was the 2006 champion in the 1,600 meters in the Kansas Class 5A state meet. Bradley placed second in the 400 at the 2007 Kansas Relays with a personal-best time of 55.49 seconds.
