Eastbound stretch of I-70 down to one lane

A nearly-five mile eastbound stretch of the Kansas Turnpike west of Lawrence has been narrowed to one lane.

Turnpike crews closed the eastbound portion of Interstate 70 Thursday night between milepost 189.5 and 184.

That means eastbound travelers will find the roadway narrowed to one lane, starting about eight miles west of the West Lawrence interchange, and last until about three miles west of the same interchange.

It will remain one lane until about 11 a.m. today.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority reminds drivers to exercise caution while driving the five-mile stretch for the safety and consideration of other drivers and construction workers.
