Old Home Town – 40 years ago

The Kansas University Engineering Exposition was to feature a Mercury 9 space capsule on loan from NASA. The capsule had carried the monkey named Enos on a space test flight in November 1961.

The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development approved $2.7 million in housing funds for construction of a 680-student residence hall west of KU’s Oliver Hall near 19th and Naismith. The name for the building had not been selected.
