From the Lawrence Daily World for April 18, 1907: “Thirteen candidates are being mentioned as seeking the U.S. presidency in 1908 – an unlucky number, surely, for at least 12 of them. : As for our horrible April weather, we must not often speak of it in our columns because the World has to be kept fit enough to circulate through the mails. : A meeting of stockholders of the Weber Piano Co. showed many interested purchases, so much so that outsiders are not due to be allowed to buy. : San Francisco is observing the first anniversary of the deadly earthquake that set a new record for death and destruction.”
